Inside Line Promotions – HANFORD, Calif. (April 30, 2018) – April has been stellar for Dominic Scelzi, who earned his second feature victory of the season last Saturday to wrap up the month.

The win at Keller Auto Speedway was Scelzi’s second in his last five races and it marked his fifth podium finish in seven races this month in his family owned, Roth Motorsports supported ride.

“The momentum we have is great,” he said. “The guys are working hard to give me a great car each night and we’ve been capitalizing.”

The weekend began on Friday at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Calif., where Scelzi qualified 14th quickest, advanced from fifth to fourth place in a heat race and charged from 13th to third place in the main event.

“We qualified bad on Friday and that took us out of contention, but we drove up through the field,” he said. “We had a couple of battles with guys, but for the most part we were unchallenged. I got to third with about 10 laps to go. I had been working the middle in turns and one and two. I feel I burned my left rear tire off so we weren’t able to advance any further.”

The third-place result marked Scelzi’s third straight weekend with a top-five finish at the track. Here is a link to watch the main event: https://youtu.be/X9GlcfUzSvI.

Scelzi made the most of his season debut at Keller Auto Speedway on Saturday.

“They resurfaced and reshaped it,” he said. “It’s extremely wide. It’s the widest track in California by a mile.”

Scelzi qualified third quickest, powered from fourth to win a heat race and finished third in the dash to start the A Main on the inside of the second row.

“The polesitter got a bad start and that bumped me to sixth,” he said. “I was able to get to fifth when a yellow flag came out about two laps in. I got to fourth after the restart and we went green for eight laps. Then two guys got together in front of me so that moved me to third. I closed in on them and then a lap later they crashed on the front straightway.”

Scelzi inherited the lead just before the midpoint of the feature. He took advantage to build nearly an eight-second lead before a caution set up a green-white-checkered finish. Scelzi capitalized on the clean track and cruised to the triumph. Here is a link to watch the race: https://youtu.be/vhreJv3T_Mc.

“I feel we were good enough to win,” he said. “It would have been nice to race those guys for it, but I’m never going to complain about getting a win.”

Scelzi will return to action this Friday and Saturday at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif., during the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial with the King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Series.

“The biggest thing for me is how we ran there during Gold Cup (last year),” he said. “We’ve been really good with the World of Outlaws there and we were good at the 360 show there last year. We have a lot of speed in Chico and our 410 car has been really good this year as well.”
