Montgomery scores at Keller Auto Speedway

(Hanford, CA) -- Kaleb Montgomery captured the Kings of Thunder Sprint Car Series main Thursday night at Keller Auto Speedway. DJ Netto was second and Dominic Scelzi third.

Report From FLO Racing:

A scary scene unfolded in hot laps at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, California on Thursday evening when Caeden Steele’s Sprint Car caught on fire. Steele rushed to get out of the car, but the pant legs of his driver’s suit ignited.

Steele, with the help of safety crews and fellow competitor, DJ Netto, was able to put out the fires on his legs fairly quickly, but not before suffering some burns.

Steele’s Twitter account explained that the flames were from a fuel fire in the cockpit of his 360 Sprint Car, and he went to a local hospital for further examination.

The twitter account issued an update on Steele’s condition on Friday morning, explaining that Steele has second-degree burns to 16-percent of his legs from the mid-thigh down to his ankles. Steele is also going to spend two more days in the burn unit for further evaluation. They do not believe that skin grafts are going to be needed so far.
